The Legend of La Encantada del Puerto: Oral Tradition of Santisteban del Puerto through an Artist’s Book

Abstract

This artistic research arises from the interest in presenting a new perspective on the concept of the book, with the aim of bringing the idea into the classroom. It is a creative project focused on the experimentation and creation of an artist’s book, using the philosophy of artist Emilio Sdun as its guiding thread, to explore the local legend from Santisteban known as "La Encantada del Puerto."

Santisteban del Puerto is my hometown — it's where I was raised and where my roots will always be. That is why connecting with my past through a reinterpreted narrative allows me to explore a better version of myself in the present, as a teacher.

Today, it is essential to showcase different means of expression and communication in order to broaden educational knowledge and to highlight inclusive compositions. These approaches result in artistic techniques with their own form and meaning, helping expand the ability to understand the world around us.

Ultimately, this is the purpose of this artistic and cultural creation — to unite the fields of history, literature, and art into a single entity, while also aiming to promote and give value to the rural environment, specifically that of the village of Santisteban del Puerto.
