The context of the female singer-songwriter. An artistic and social plan on the female singer-songwriter

Abstract

An audiovisual piece is proposed in this project that portrays five singer-songwriters from the current musical scene in Granada. Make visible the work, talent, experiences and give a voice to these young women singer-songwriters who, despite stigmatization, prejudice and having many more difficulties than men, move and fight for a future in music, is the main objective of this project. Likewise, different creative processes of each singer-songwriter are contrasted and portrayed. It is an artistic investigation based on a practice and personal experience, since I myself am a singer-songwriter.

The idea of ​​this project arises out of own necessity; As a singer-songwriter I seek the encounter, the realities and the experiences of other women who, like me, feel the impulse and the desire to express part of what we think and worry us through our songs. The desire arises to deepen and make visible the figure of these young musicians, inquiring about the different creative processes. Where does the need to compose come from? What do we want to show?

Music is one of the fundamental tools that people have to express what we feel, our moods, our experiences or, without further pretense, being able to experience the pleasure of music itself in its variants.

People are needed, in this case women, who sing for freedom and equal opportunities. People who with their songs and music bring to light concerns, that make us think, that stir consciences and hearts. For us, as young women in the music scene, it is a tremendous effort to dignify, make visible and professionalize, that is, to be able to make a living from music as a trade or profession, we are not only talking about music, this unfortunately also transcends other artistic manifestations.

The audiovisual documentary format is an ideal tool to portray these realities, the conjunction of image, emotion and music.
